Ball Control · Intermediate

Two Ball Rhythm Control

Long-rally control drill — two simultaneous rallies on the same court force constant focus and ball control.

How to run it

  1. 1

P1 and P5 each start with a ball. SIMULTANEOUSLY: P1 throws over the net to P4, P5 throws over the net to P2. Three-touch volleyball begins on both rallies — middle player sets every second touch. Passer/hitters only hit line. Rotate after 2–3 minutes. Then switch to cross only.

  2. 2

Coach emphasis: Keep the ball alive — control over kill. If one ball dies, re-enter another in rhythm.

Why we run it

Long-rally control drill — two simultaneous rallies on the same court force constant focus and ball control.

Many of our drills are adapted from the coaching resources at Better at Beach and the FIVB.
