Over the Net Exchange — Emergency Touch Variations

Layer emergency touches into a continuous over-the-net exchange so they're trained in a rally context.

How to run it

  1. 1

Pair 1 sends the ball over. Pair 2 must use the called touch on contact 2 before sending it back. 60 seconds per touch type, 5 touch types = ~5 min per round, run 3 rounds with sides switching.

  2. 2

Coach emphasis: Make the emergency touch on purpose — don't bail to a regular set.

Why we run it

Layer emergency touches into a continuous over-the-net exchange so they're trained in a rally context.

Many of our drills are adapted from the coaching resources at Better at Beach and the FIVB.
