Open or Closed Vision Drill (6 Levels)
Teach attackers to read the defense before they leave the ground — and to act on what they saw.
How to run it
- 1
Level 1: hitter calls 'open' (no defender visible) or 'closed' (defender in zone) before the swing. Level 2: hitter must hit away from a stationary defender. Level 3: defender shifts late — hitter must adjust. Level 4: 2 defenders, hit to the gap. Level 5: blocker + defender. Level 6: full live rally with a vision call required after every swing. Spend 2–3 min per level.
- 2
Coach emphasis: Eyes on the defense at peak of the jump, not on the ball.
