1-2-3 Drill

Reward early kills — value 1-touch and 2-touch attacks over standard 3-touch plays.

How to run it

  1. 1

Coach feeds a free ball to the team with fewer points. First time each team plays the ball: ONLY 1 touch allowed. Second time: ONLY 2 touches. Third time and after: 3 touches. Block exception: if you block, play continues normally. Scoring: win on/before the 1-touch chance = 3 points, win on the 2-touch = 2 points, anything later = 1 point. Wrong touch count = point over. Mini games to 7. First team to 5 mini games wins.

  2. 2

Coach emphasis: Early kills are worth more. Don't always default to 3 touches.

Why we run it

Reward early kills — value 1-touch and 2-touch attacks over standard 3-touch plays.

Many of our drills are adapted from the coaching resources at Better at Beach and the FIVB.
